Waterproofing Hawks

A leaking roof rarely starts with a dramatic drip. In most homes the warning signs appear months earlier — and fixing them before the monsoon is far cheaper than repairing water damage afterwards. Here are five signs to look out for.

1. Damp patches on the ceiling

Dark or yellowish patches on the top-floor ceiling mean water is already passing through the slab. Even if the patch dries in summer, it will return with the next rain.

2. Peeling or bubbling paint

When moisture gets trapped behind paint, it pushes the paint away from the surface. Bubbling paint near the ceiling or upper walls is a classic sign of roof seepage.

3. Cracks on the roof surface

Heat and cold make the roof expand and contract. Over time this creates hairline cracks that let rainwater in. Walk on your roof and check joints, corners and around water tanks and pipes.

4. Water standing on the roof

If water stays on the roof for hours after rain, the slope or drainage is not working properly. Standing water slowly soaks into the concrete and finds its way down.

5. A musty smell or mould

A damp smell in top-floor rooms, or black spots of mould in corners, means moisture is present for long periods. This is not only damaging for the building but also unhealthy for your family.

What to do next

The best time to waterproof is before the rainy season. A proper inspection finds the real source of the problem so the right treatment can be chosen. Call or WhatsApp 0321-4156036 or request a free quote and our team will guide you.
